Hey!
I’ll get my cat home this week. Now I have a question about the vaccination against feline colds and feline plague. I wonder if it is just as necessary for an indoor cat to get vaccinated?
Hi, and thanks for your question!
I’m so happy that you get to experience having a little cat 🙂
Vaccinating an indoor cat is not absolutely necessary. But it is easy and painless and can be done quickly. The cat is also routinely examined before vaccination.
The cat should be vaccinated twice to begin with, at intervals of a few weeks and then once a year. It can be good to do this if someone who also has a cat and their cat is sick should come home. If you are unlucky, you can get infected with clothes and shoes.
If you were to consider getting another cat, it could be sick or infected and infect your cat. It can also be a good idea to have it vaccinated if you need to take it to the vet for something else.
There may have been a sick cat inside the vet before your cat and then it may be infected. If you are going to show your cat, vaccination is mandatory. How you do it is up to you.
I myself have had a cat that turned ten years old and she was never vaccinated.
I have a cat now that is 15 years old and he was vaccinated as a young cat. I have never heard of a cat getting sick from the vaccination but there are pros and cons to everything of course. Good luck with your cat!
