Hey!
In my housing association we have two cats, a male cat and a female cat (ordinary domestic cats, the former short-haired and the latter long-haired).
The female cat is only six months old, but still there are several who in recent weeks have commented that she seems to be pregnant. Is it at all possible?
Hey Andy!
Of course it is possible, although it is not so common that it happens so early.
But if the male is also sexually mature (you should be able to smell it when he has peed, among other things), it is very possible that they have mated. In addition, the young female’s first maturity is often so weak that its owner does not feel it.
If she is pregnant, you can see that her teats get bigger and redder. In the middle of pregnancy (which takes nine weeks in all) you can start to see the stomach grow and assume pear shape.
If you want to be sure, you can take the cat to the vet, who can decide the matter.
If the cat is pregnant, and you do not feel like a litter, the veterinarian can perform an abortion and a castration at the same time.
In addition, you can have the male neutered at the same time.
