Hey!
My female cat was neutered about 2.5 weeks ago.
My cousin has taken care of her in the meantime.
Now today when my sister brought her home, she discovered a lump / hernia on her stomach, about the size of an avocado core.
She is small in size, weighs about 2.5 kg.
The stitches were not taken by a veterinarian, but the wound looks fine.
We have tried to reaching a vet without much success.
Is this normal? What should we do? Is this dangerous?
Grateful for any answers you might have.
Hey!
No it’s not normal. Swelling of the stomach after castration is usually a tissue reaction to the stitches or a hernia.
If it is a hernia, an operation should be performed to sew the hernia together. If it is a tissue reaction, it usually disappears on its own.
If the cat is well, it is not urgent but you can wait until you get your vet.
If the cat is sore when you touch the swelling and seems to be generally affected, you should see a veterinarian urgently.
Hope everything went well with your cat!
