Hey!
I have two indoor cats, a male 2 years (Somali / Persian) and a female 3 1/2 years (Norwegian forest / road crossing).
I only had the female then I bought the male after a year and a half. Before they were two, I had dry food in front of her all the time and she could eat whenever she wanted, it worked really well.
Then when he came, I noticed quite quickly that he is a beater, so they started to get dry food 2 times / day dosed.
It does not work to have food so they can eat whenever they want as he eats until there is nothing left.
She rarely eats and seems to be quite uninterested (unless it is wet food or other good).
Any tips for getting more in tune with each other’s eating habits?
It is a common problem if you have two cats. It is possible to solve this by having free access to feed in a place where only the female can access.
One can e.g. build a larger box and install a cat door that only lets in your female cat (reads ID chip).
There are also special food bowls that can read the cat’s ID chip – read more about this!
