When I cut the claws of one of my cats, I noticed that a claw has grown into the pad.
The largest claw at the inside of the paw.
It can not be worked off, just a little overgrown.
Does a surgery need to be performed?
Hey!
It sometimes happens that claws grow into the paw, especially the clone on the spur (clone on the pad on the inside of the paw).
To try to avoid this, it is important to review your cat’s claws regularly, especially if you have older cats.
What you do is cut the clone (avoid the pulp!).
And then peel off the ingrown part.
Then you need to wash the wound clean and make sure that the cat does not have to lick it, preferably with the help of a collar on the cat.
If the wound appears to be deep, bleeding, infected or if the cat appears to be in pain, a veterinarian must be consulted.
Contact your veterinary clinic for help with this.
Good luck!
