We already have a mixed breed dog of 7 years and have got a little cat boy of 6 months and are wondering if there is any candy that you can give to both of them without either of them getting hurt?

Dried meat can be given to both cat and dog. There are also freeze-dried sweets from e.g. Orijen which is about the same for dogs and cats but in different sizes.
Ordinary cat candy and regular dog candy, however, differ somewhat and if you give more than a single piece of candy, it is better to stick to candy adapted to each species.
However, there is no danger if the cat gets a dog candy or the dog gets a cat candy from time to time.
