I wonder if my indoor cat, which is a neutered male of about one year, would feel good or bad from having a cat friend.
I would like to have another cat, but my partner does not think it is good for him.
What do you think we should do?
Hello, Jenny!
I absolutely think you should get a cat buddy for your cat.
Partly because your cat will have an equal to play and “talk” with and partly also because you and your partner will learn a lot about cats’ behaviors by looking at how the cats behave towards each other, how they use their body language, etc.
It usually takes anywhere from two weeks to a month before your cat really accepts the new cat.
This is because the new cat partly smells different and that it comes and takes place in your cat’s territory which makes it a little jealous (you can count on that).
But I can assure you that it’s worth the hassle. If you are away most of the day, your cat will also have company.
I wish you all the best with your new cat and if you have problems or have questions you can write here or on the forum and you will get all the help you may need. Good luck!
