When can you castrate a male cat at the earliest without it being adversely affected in appearance?
We have a Siamese mix and even though he is only four months old, we think he is starting to reach puberty!
It is not that we intend to rush off and castrate him now, but we would like to do so before he starts peeing inside and so on. What do you suggest?

Right now, all the hormones in your cats are activated, your cat is also a Siamese mixture (and Siamese become sexually mature early).
You can castrate him now, but I would wait until he is six months old if you can. If his urine starts to smell very strong, I would castrate him right away, then it’s probably just before he starts urinating.
Previously it was thought that a male cat that was neutered early would not get the big male cat head, and that is true – but if you wait with the castration until the secondary sex characters (eg the head) are fully developed, they will still disappear little by little, when he has been castrated.
Cats’ secondary sex characteristics are partly hereditary, which is why you can see cats with small heads and cats with large heads, even if they are neutered at the same age.
