My cat had kids in May and we have saved a kitten. These are Siamese.
I wonder when the kid should stop breastfeeding?
I try to keep the two apart but it’s hard.
My female has been neutered recently.
Is it ok to let the cat be breastfed?
I think he is so insecure and afraid of everything, poor little kitty.
Hey Bleri!
Normally, kittens are completely weaned before 12 weeks of age (and usually some time before that).
The mother cat usually takes care of the weaning herself by stopping letting the kittens breastfeed.
It is not dangerous for the kitten to continue breastfeeding, but as I said, the mother usually gets tired after a while and the milk eventually dries out.
I do not know how it affects the kitten’s behavior to continue breastfeeding but I do not think it does them any harm.
However, the kitten should start eating regular cat food properly if he has not done so yet. Good luck!
